Ricky Gervais - “The Real Disaster In Burma”.

I received this email and YouTube link today from Burma Campaign……

Dear Friend,
We have just launched a major new campaign video featuring top UK comic Ricky Gervais. The powerful video is called “The Real Disaster In Burma”.

Over the last nine months millions of people around the world have realised just how brutal and ruthless the Burmese regime is. They have realised that the regime will stop at nothing to stay in power – they’ll shoot peaceful protestors, they’ll even leave storm victims to die.

We want the world to realise the real disaster in Burma is the government.

Please watch it online and forward the message below to anyone who you think will support our work. You can see it here: http://www.burmacampaign.org.uk/therealdisaster.html

And yet i watched a program on Sky in which a doctor was allowed into Burma into the worse affected area and the army had already given them food, tents or material to allow them to live. Dead bodies on the whole had been removed OK some were still being found, but on the whole the people in Burma were being looked after. You know we have nothing really to shout about people in this civilized country are still living in tents after the flood here, our government gave the local council money but this money of course never ever gets to the people which needs it, OK we did not have perhaps million dead, but you know something we have to to look at our selves before shouting at others, a report today of people living after our own flood state the government did nothing to help, imagine if we were really hit harder then the last time what do we expect from New Labour and I guess it would be little.

Robert, as far as I can tell roadblocks were not put up to prevent aid getting to flood victims in this country, no one who helped a neighbour was arrested for subversion, and no journalist was arrested for reporting on the floods. All of this happened in Burma after the cyclone. It's a shame that your dislike for New Labour prevents you recognising far worse problems in a military dictatorship. The people of Burma deserve better.

Hi Sam

The word "troll" comes to mind (nothing wrong with that of course - as long as you do it in your real name)
